Ingredients

  • 8 cups fresh broccoli florets about 1.5 pounds
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F or 232°C. Grease a large baking sheet and set it aside.
  2. Combine the garlic powder, sea salt, paprika, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  3. Place the broccoli florets in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss until every piece is evenly coated.
  4. Sprinkle half of the seasoning mixture over the broccoli and toss. Add the remaining seasoning and toss again until evenly distributed.
  5. Arrange the seasoned broccoli in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Roast for 14 to 15 minutes, stirring once halfway through. Keep in mind that smaller florets may cook more quickly, while larger pieces can take slightly longer.
  7. If you want crispier edges, broil the broccoli for 1 to 2 minutes at the end of cooking. Watch it closely to prevent burning.
  8. Remove from the oven and serve immediately while the broccoli is hot, tender, and crisp around the edges.

Recipe Notes
Fresh broccoli works best for the standard method, but frozen florets can also be used. Warm frozen broccoli in the preheated oven for 1 to 2 minutes before coating it with olive oil and seasonings.
Avocado oil can replace olive oil. Minced garlic can be substituted for garlic powder, and smoked paprika can be used for a deeper, slightly smoky flavor.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To help restore the crispy texture, reheat the broccoli at 375°F for approximately 4 to 5 minutes.
