Ingredients

Equipment
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Small saucepan or kettle
  • Kitchen thermometer recommended
  • Serving mug
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons unflavored horse gelatin powder
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 8 to 10 ounces warm water or bone broth
  • ½ teaspoon ginger powder optional
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric optional
  • Fresh lemon juice to taste (optional)

Method

Step 1
  1. Pour 2 to 3 ounces of cold water into a small bowl. Sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the surface and let it sit for 5 minutes until fully bloomed.
Step 2
  1. Heat the remaining water or bone broth until it reaches approximately 130 to 140°F. Do not allow it to boil.
Step 3
  1. Slowly pour the warm liquid over the bloomed gelatin while stirring continuously until completely dissolved.
Step 4
  1. Stir in the raw honey and sea salt. Add the optional ginger, turmeric, or lemon juice if desired. Mix until smooth.
Step 5
  1. Serve immediately while warm for the best texture. Enjoy within 30 to 60 minutes after exercise if using it as part of your recovery routine.
Notes
  1. Always bloom the gelatin before adding warm liquid to prevent lumps.
  2. Keep the liquid below boiling for the smoothest consistency.
  3. Grass fed bovine gelatin can be substituted if horse gelatin is unavailable.
  4. This recipe is best prepared fresh before serving.
