Method
- Wash the ginger root and slice it thinly or grate it.

- Add the ginger and reduce the heat to low.
- Cover and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Strain the ginger water into a heat-safe container.
- Stir in fresh lemon juice, if using.
- Serve warm, or cool and refrigerate for a chilled ginger drink.
